This page describes the Mac App Store and TestFlight build of Diktator!. Diktator! is a local voice typing app for macOS. It is designed to help people who have limited finger mobility or find sustained keyboard typing difficult. Instead of typing a phrase using many keystrokes, users can speak and let Diktator! turn that speech into local text.
Diktator! is designed for short practical dictation: messages, notes, emails, browser text fields, and everyday writing. Users can start dictation from the app, and compatible Mac apps can receive the result through the standard macOS Services flow.
This provides a faster and more comfortable way to enter text for people who find conventional keyboard typing difficult, particularly when writing in languages for which built-in dictation may not meet their needs.
The Mac App Store build of Diktator! does not request or use the macOS Accessibility permission.
Diktator! also does not request or use the macOS Input Monitoring permission. It does not read document contents, inspect other applications' interfaces, control windows, monitor user activity, or collect information about what the user types.
When a compatible app supports the standard macOS Services responder flow, Diktator! can return the locally recognized text through that system path. If a target app does not accept the result that way, the text remains available in Diktator! so the user can copy it or drag it where needed.
Microphone access is used only while recording speech for transcription. The user controls when recording starts and stops.
Speech recognition is performed locally on the Mac using a locally installed speech model. Audio and recognized text are not sent to a cloud transcription service.
